Stumbling sound
19 Jan, 2025
"Art or literature should not be the squire or accomplice of life (even a miserable life), but should be like a detective, hearing the stumbling sounds in any smooth order and seeing the strangeness in any familiar place." ——Shi Tiesheng's "Fragments of Writings in Sickness" At the beginning of 2024, I said goodbye to years of wandering in the city and resigned to return to my hometown in Shanxi. Unlike the fast-paced life in the city, my perception has become more acute in the countryside. Back to myself, the dilemma and struggle of reality still exist. I try to reconcile with it slowly and re-establish the connection with the land. When I have nothing to do, I like to wander around alone until the dusk rises in my body. Crops and weeds, flowers and insects, nature has always had its own inherent order. These photos are my re-examination of my hometown. I try to hear some stumbling sounds from the mediocre and hidden daily life."
