For some time now I have been creating a photographic project relating to the ritual of slaughtering meat. Slaughter, as is known, has existed as long as man has existed and is carried out with procedures that depend on the territories, traditions and also religious confessions. I'm interested in a story that also highlights these differences. For this purpose I have already gone to take photographs at various types of slaughterhouses, from artisanal to industrial, in Mexico, Argentina and Italy. The goal is not to denounce or make judgments, but to show what is usually hidden, including the palpable presence of death and the silence of the operators who move like robots. One of the peculiarities of this project is the need to face the presence of strong entry barriers due to fears relating to hygiene and safety at work, methods of treatment of animals or judicial/journalistic investigations which the owners fear could highlight invalidating problems partially or totally the very continuation of the activities of these entities. I see participation in the call as an opportunity that could facilitate the completion of the work which involves the inclusion of rites and procedures relating to Islamic and Jewish traditions.
