My aim is to present a body of work that is personal, yet universal. While grappling with the reality of my mental illness, living with Bipolar, using a camera and darkroom processes as a way to reflect and heal. With the action of shooting photographs of my city, to see moments and shadows that exist in their essence for only a moment, often overlooked moments in everyone’s busy life. The world around me inspires my photos, while impulses dictate my stitching and writings. The process is split into two very different parts. When shooting I take a lot of photos. I do not consider any particular scene or frame precious. I allow myself to be distracted by anything without discriminating. The work is a tactile collection of images that serve as a diary of documentation. The approach to the photography is grounded in the physical production of the images, starting with black and white prints from the darkroom, the process goes to ripping sewing and manipulating images together to create something new
