I am not like me

Beauty has shaped the world we inhabit for as long as humanity has existed.“I Am Not Like Me” explores the body as a stage for expression. It does not seek to condemn, but to understand what our appearances reveal about us. It is not concerned with judgment—right or wrong, beautiful or not—but with the privilege of choice: the possibility of telling a story through one’s own body. The project focuses on moments when individuals feel most aligned with themselves—when they inhabit the version of their identity they wish to embody in the present. “I Am Not Like Me” is not a contradiction, but an embrace of transformation. It acknowledges identity as fluid, an ongoing process of becoming rather than a fixed state.Through makeup, cosmetic procedures, fitness, tattoos, and styling, the series observes how people construct and perform identity. Bodies become curated surfaces—sometimes even marketable ones—shaped within societal frameworks yet driven by personal intention. How much of our appearance is truly self-determined, and how much is molded by external ideals? The series highlights diversity, transformation, and the performative staging of identity—revealing the complexity and beauty embedded within acts of self-fashioning.
